I read several reviews on this product and there were mixed reports about the on/off switch. Now I understand why.
I ordered two vests and the material and workmanship seems very sturdy on both vests. BUT, the wiring and battery units were obviously assembled in different locations. One vest has a proper on/off switch on the battery box AND it has a hidden push-button switch that toggles between the flashing modes.
On the second vest the on/off switch on the battery pack has been bypassed. And the push-button is flatter and harder to fell, but works fine if you push hard enough. I contacted Grip-On and they explained that this is the new design since the second on/off switch was redundant. They were very helpful over the phone.
Bottom line, these vests are awesome. There is no way drivers could ignore you, day or night, with these beacons glaring.
The waist adjusts with three different velcro sections. I folded the back down, following the crease from the way the vest was folded in the box, and pinned it. Now it's short enough for my kids to wear (even if the waist is still too big).

Bought for a 125 mile bike tour that would require riding in the dark on country roads. Gave the assurance that we would be seen. Very visible, highly reflective. Lights worked great. Loose fit with adjustable waistband.
